What a minute on Retell AI actually costs
Cost per minute = voice infra + LLM + voice (TTS) + telephony. Phone numbers, extra concurrency and add-ons are monthly.
Voice infrastructure
A flat $0.055/min on every minute. Retell says the AI fee stops when a call is transferred, and telephony keeps running.
LLM
The model line runs $0.0016–$0.64/min. We use GPT 4.1 mini at $0.0128/min as the default. Claude 4.5 Haiku is $0.025/min.
Voice (TTS)

Telephony
Retell's Twilio US rate is $0.015/min. Bring your own SIP trunk and Retell charges nothing for telephony.
Retell AI cost at 500 to 10,000 minutes a month
Scenario (our assumptions, not vendor figures): inbound calls on one US local number; average call 3 minutes; the business needs 10 calls at once; a GPT-4.1-mini-class LLM; each platform's cheapest published voice. Where a platform bills the LLM by token and publishes no per-minute figure, we use Retell's published GPT 4.1 mini rate ($0.0128/min) as a stand-in and label it assumption.

Is Retell AI worth it?
On our stack, Retell is one of the cheaper options at the volumes we model, mostly because 20 concurrent calls are included while Vapi charges for lines above its free set. It is the wrong pick if you want one bundled rate with no model choices (Bland), or if the whole stack already lives in GoHighLevel.
